Department Chairperson - Lisa Godfrey This is Lisa Godfrey's eleventh year as the Department Chair for the Sign Language Department. Her undergraduate degree is a double major of English and History. She has her master's degree in Career/Technical Education and is currently working on her Ed.D. in Learning and Leadership. She holds both the CI and the CT from RID, a Level 4.4 EIPA rating, and also the qualified certificate from the American Sign Language Teachers Association and has completed the course work for a certificate in Teaching ASL and Interpreting from the University of Colorado. She recently completed the master mentorship program through Project TIEM.online. In addition, she freelance interprets as a video remote interpreter through Fluent Language Solutions in North Carolina. She serves as the president of the Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Recently she was awarded the RID Region II Representative's Award for contributions to the field of interpreting. She is married to Kevin and has two children Hannah and Josh. |
Adjunct Instructor - Sharon Bryant Sharon is a new staff member to the Deaf Studies Department for the fall of 2007. She received her BA degree in Social Work and Art from Gallaudet University. She then went on and graduated with her Master's of Science in Counseling Education from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel University). In 2004 she received her EdS in Vocational Evaluation from George Washington University. She has previously worked with the deaf population at the Maryland School for the Deaf and also worked as an Employment Specialist. In addition, Sharon has been very active within the deaf community and her local church. She is currently working for Partnership for Families, Children and Adults as a Job Placement Coordinator with Deaf people. Sharon has three grown children and three grandchildren. |

Adjunct Instructor - Loren Frick
Loren joins the faculty of TTU as an adjunct DE instructor of Deaf Ministry. Loren received his BS degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee Temple University and will complete his master's degree in Deaf Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UT) in May of 2008. Adjunct Instructor - Mary Oxendine Mary will be joining us this year as the facilitator for the sign language lab classes. She graduated from Iowa School for the deaf and attended TTU. She works as a deaf education tech for Hamilton County Schools. She is married to Dale and has three grown children. |

Adjunct Instructor - Greg Reese Greg is new to TTU this year. He will be joining us as an adjunct instructor of Deaf Culture. Greg was born Deaf and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He recieved his B.A. in English from Florida Atlantic University and his M.Ed. in Deaf Education from Georgia State University. He is a four-time Deaflympic Swimmer, multiple-medal winner, and recordbreaker. He brings 10 years teaching experience as an ASL Instructor. |
